As is known to all, the soldering techniques are frequently applied in the different components assembly of PCB. Take a thru-hole component for instance, it is a component that is guided by a wire or a metallic lead, with the lead goes through the plated holes, then the component is soldered on the board. Now let’s take a view about the general steps of soldering a thru-hole component.
Preparation is the first step of soldering a thru-hole component. To be specific, the hole and the pad for soldering should be prepared in advance, while the lead should be placed through the hole. The lead should be placed above the soldered area, in order to reduce the requirements of heat and solder.
Secondly, heating the materials such as lead and the pad/hole evenly, then the solder will adhere to both surfaces.
The next step of soldering a thru-hole component is solder contacts. Make the solder touch the end of the iron, this enables the solder to change into a liquid and flow into the hole.
Adequate solder inspection
As the solder flows through the hole, a mound will be created on both the bottom and top side. Since the lead was soldered from the top, so the bottom side should be inspected for adequate solder.
